SUSTAINABILITY PRACTICES

SUSTAINABILITY IS SEXY

We value conscious purchasing decisions just as much as you do. We keep our standards high to ensure that every Saltwater Collective garment is made with great care and intention, always with our Earth in mind.

WHAT WE'RE DOING

Each year, 8 million tons of plastic is being dumped into our planet ’s oceans.  If we don’t curb our consumption, scientists predict that plastic will outweigh fish in the sea by 2050.

CLEANER OCEANS ARE FASHION FORWARD

This is why each Saltwater swimsuit is made from abandoned fishing nets and a variety of nylon products and waste recovered from landfills. This waste is then put through a Regeneration System, known as ECONYL®.

THE PROCESS

It starts with rescuing waste, that is otherwise polluting the Earth such as fishing nets, fabric scraps, carpet flooring and industrial plastic from all over the world. That waste is then sorted and cleaned to recover as much nylon as possible.

Through a radical regeneration and purification process, the nylon waste is recycled back to its original purity. This means that ECONYL® regenerated nylon is exactly the same as fossil-based nylon and has the potential to be recycled infinitely, without ever losing its quality.

VOILA!

ECONYL® regenerated fibre can be recycled, recreated and remoulded infinitely. This means that new products can be created without using new resources. In our books - that's a BIG win for our planet.
